Staff Time-Off Guidelines
simplified for quick reference

Approved - Green
2 weeks notice is given. No other days have been or are planned to be missed on the same day of the week in the 6 weeks before or after. Not part of a regular pattern of absences.

-Thank you for adhering to staff policy, enjoy your day.

Conditional - Yellow
Less than 2 weeks notice. The same day has been, or will be missed in a 6 week period before or after. Staff member's last request was not “yellow” status.

-This is not ideal, reconsider and only request if necessary

Extenuating circumstance- Red
Total time is more than business 10 days, is a pattern of regular absences
OR last request was "yellow" status

- Discuss the circumstances with the manager in person. An additional form may be required to document the time off and report to the owner/director for review.

For some yellow and red absences, additional makeup days and times may be required of the teacher.

Frequent "yellow" or multiple "red" absences within a year, without doctor’s note, may jeopardize eligibility for annual raises and employment status.
48 hours in advance of any time off - Ask the manager about the status of substitutes and email lesson notes/plans required.
